How To Transfer Your Domain From GoDaddy To SiteGround

If you want all of your websites and domains in one place, the best option is to transfer your domain to your Siteground account.

Step 1: Unlock Your Domain in GoDaddy

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and navigate to the “Domains” section.
  2. Locate the domain you want to transfer and click on the “Manage” button.
  3. Under the “Settings” tab, find the “Domain Lock” option and toggle it to “Off.”

Step 2: Obtain Your EPP Code

  1. Still within the “Domains” section of your GoDaddy account, locate the domain you want to transfer and click on the “Manage” button.
  2. Under the “Settings” tab, scroll down to the “Authorization Code” section and click on the “Generate EPP Code” button.
  3. Copy the EPP code as you will need it later in the transfer process.

Step 3: Initiate the Domain Transfer in SiteGround

  1. Log in to your SiteGround account and navigate to the “Services” section.
  2. Click on the “Domains” button and select “Transfer Domain.”
  3. Enter your domain name and click on the “Check Status” button.
  4. SiteGround will verify the domain’s eligibility for transfer. If eligible, you will be prompted to provide the EPP code you obtained from GoDaddy.
  5. Review the transfer details and proceed with the payment.

Step 4: Complete the Transfer Process

  1. You will receive an email from GoDaddy requesting approval for the domain transfer. Click on the link provided in the email to approve the transfer.
  2. The domain transfer will typically be completed within 48-72 hours. Once the transfer is complete, your domain will be managed through your SiteGround account.

Remember, during the transfer process, your website may experience temporary downtime. It is recommended to inform your website visitors and plan accordingly.
